The River Plate team drew 1-1 with Platense as visitors in the first match of Zone B of the 2025 Apertura Tournament of the Professional League. The match was played at the Ciudad de Vicente López stadium, where Ignacio Vázquez scored for Platense in the 12th minute of the first half and Matías Rojas equalized for River in the 41st minute of the second half.
Regarding the lineup, River Plate took the field with Franco Armani in goal, Montiel, Pezzella, Martínez Quarta, and Acuña in defense, Pérez, Galoppo, Meza, and Lanzini in midfield, while Colidio and Borja were in the attack, under the management of Marcelo Gallardo.
Platense's goal came from a free kick from the right that Vicente Taborda sent into the area, where Ignacio Vázquez headed the ball towards the goal defended by Franco Armani. Although the goalkeeper initially controlled the ball, it slipped from his hands and ended up in his own net.
River Plate sought the equalizer in the second half but faced a solid defense from Platense, with Vázquez and Saborido standing out. Finally, Matías Rojas managed to score the equalizer for River after a cross into the area that the Platense goalkeeper failed to clear effectively, leaving the ball ready for the goal.
With this result, River Plate begins the 2025 Apertura Tournament with a draw that raises questions about their performance, while Platense starts the season with a bittersweet taste for not being able to maintain the lead in their first match. River's next match will be at home against Instituto de Córdoba, and Platense will face Vélez.
